Celebrate the Nativity of Mary, as well as Regina Caeli Academy’s first ever day of school at the beautiful and historic Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate in Guelph. Mass is at 9am on Tuesday, September 8th, with a reception to follow in the parish hall.
Catholic education in Wellington County began here in 1856 when the Loretto Sisters opened their convent beside the church on Catholic Hill. The Sisters immediately began teaching girls in the convent and boys in the rectory. Although the convent is now a museum, it remains the oldest surviving school building in Guelph and a lasting legacy of true Catholic education.
